FORGIVENESS JOURNAL

1.  Describe a time that you had to forgive someone for doing something wrong to you.

2.  Describe a time that someone had to forgive you for doing something wrong to them.  (Don't be surprised if this takes some time to remember....it's easier for us to remember who wronged US more than how we wrong someone else!)

3. What's the hardest thing about forgiving someone?

4.  What's the hardest thing about asking for forgiveness?

5.  Do you think there is a time that someone should never be forgiven?  Why or why not?

6.  Is there a relationship in your life (friend, classmate, sibling, family members, etc...) that would be improved if you had an honest conversation about how you've been hurt?  Would you be willing to accept that you may have contributed to the problem?

7.  Why did you choose the Forgiveness quote that you put on the board?  (you can be honest)  Did it leave such an impact on you that you actually remember it at this moment?

8.  In "Invictus", Francois (team captain) says this about Nelson Mandela:  "I can't imagine spending 27 years in prison and then forgiving the people who put you there."  Why did Nelson Mandela choose to forgive?  (Hint:  it mentions it to his daughter, who had a hard time forgiving)
