Leadership Journal questions

1. What top qualities should a leader have, and why?  Give examples if you can.

2. Who do you consider to be a leader in your life?  What characteristics do they have?  How do they lead well?

3.  Leaders often have to sacrifice for the greater good.  Why do you think this is important? How could this happen in a middle school setting?

4. Honesty is one of the "Top Ten Leadership Attributes" according to Forbes business magazine.  What happens when a leader is not HONEST?

5. Communication is another "Top Ten Leadership Attribute."  How can you improve your own communication skills this year?

6.  In our movie, we see how Nelson Mandela chose to forgive and seek reconciliation for the betterment of his country.  He pushes for his fellow countrymen to "surprise their enemy with compassion, restraint and generosity."  Why is it so hard to reconcile with someone who has hurt us?  Do you think it is even possible in the middle school years?  Why or why not?
