Journal Entry for Remember the Titans

Describe the scene in which these quotes were said.  Who said them and why?   How are they true?

  1. The first quote is said when they have to get along and Julius says to Bertier and he says this because they need respect to fully shine as human beings. The second one was said by the coach and this is said because there will always be a lack of respect and that people will always fail to respect each other but you have to keep on fighting

  2. The first quote was by Jules. I think that this means that if you are going to be not positive and downer then you will be a bad captain because no one will like you or follow your orders.

The second quote was by Coach Boone, this quote means that they can not let not liking each other destroy a good football team. If they get into a big fight then they would not want to work together in football.

  3. I think that attitude reflects leadership means that if you have a good attitude, people will want to be around you. Leaders need to have the ability to lead and if you have a good attitude others will follow in your footsteps.

In the second quote I think that the coach is trying to tell the players that they shoudl not make the same mistakes as the people before them did. They should show that they care about eachother no matter what they look like. They should play together and be on a team together, even if they are not best friends. I think that this motovated the players to be their best and respect the others around them.

  4. The first picture quote is when Bertier is talking to Julius, and Bertier is not very friendly. They go about arguing at each other, and at the very end, Julius says "Attitude reflects leadership, captain". Leadership is like a clay pot, it is fragile, so you need to handle it delicatly. If you just rough around with it, it's going to break, and you lose your leadership.

The second picture quote is a long one, when everyone wakes up at 3 in the morning to go on a jog. They run to the cemetery of the dead soldiers that fought in the civil war. They fought for discrimination of segregation, but even to that day, the fight goes on. It is a very emotional speech, and, again, long, but it really does the job of getting the players together.

The fist quote was when Betier started talking to Julius about how he wasn't helping out the team and then Julius talked about why he did that then Bertier said "that's the worst attitude I've ever heard" and then Julius looked him in the eye and said "Attitude reflects leadership, captain" because earlier Bertier was talking about he was the captain of the team.

  6. "Attitude reflects leadership, captain."
The black dude says this to Bertier because Bertier was getting mad at him for having a bad attitude, but Bertier was being hypocritical, this is true because Julius was having a bad attitude, Julius was saying that Bertier was a bad captain

"the second quote" Coach Boone was saying to learn from the past, to end the fight that they were in

  7. "Attitude reflect leadership, captain."
Bertier and Julius talking after practice about themselves and being honest to each other. Julius said the quote because they were arguing about how Bertier was the captain and how Julius had attitude so Julius showed how attitude reflects leadership. This is true because attitude does reflect leadership the way you act does reflect your personality. The Gettysburg one was Coach Boone talking to his team about respect. This comment shows the bravery and respect that these almost dying men had for eachother and Coach thought that this would turn on a light bulb in their heads and buff up and become a team. This is true because the only way to build a team is respect, leadership, and honesty.

  9. The first picture was said by Julian after a not so good practice because he was trying to get a point across to Bertiere.

The second picture was said by Coach Boon after he took everyone out for a run through the woods at 3 am and he took them to a cemetary from the Gettysburg war
